Apple’s Siri Chatbot in iOS 27: Smarter, Faster, More Useful

5 things to know about siri in ios 27

Apple is preparing a major upgrade to Siri in iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27, turning it from a basic voice assistant into a full-featured chatbot capable of handling complex queries and conversations. For users, this means Siri will no longer be limited to answering simple questions or performing single-step tasks. It will now assist with multi-step processes and offer personalised recommendations across Apple devices.

The update will also introduce a standalone Siri app, designed to look and feel more like popular AI chat platforms. Users will see chat bubbles, conversation history, suggested prompts, and the ability to favourite and search past chats. Siri will remain integrated system-wide and accessible by voice or the side button, keeping the convenience Apple users are familiar with while adding far more capabilities.

Here are the five key things Siri users should know about iOS 27:

  • Full Chatbot Functionality: Siri will support genuine back-and-forth conversations and complex queries, similar to ChatGPT or Claude.
  • Standalone Siri App: A dedicated app will allow users to view conversation history, search within chats, start new queries, and favourite important discussions.
  • Deep Device Integration: Siri can control system settings and apps, take actions based on on-screen content, and replace Spotlight for on-device searches.
  • Enhanced Capabilities: Users will be able to search the web, summarise information, analyse documents, generate content and images, and access personal data from emails and messages.
  • Third-Party Chatbot Support: Siri will allow integration with other AI services, such as Google Gemini, ChatGPT, and Claude, giving users the option to choose which assistant handles their queries.

The updated Siri interface will include Dynamic Island integration, a glowing Siri icon, and an Ask Siri button inside apps. Apple is also exploring conversational memory similar to other chatbots, though privacy considerations may limit this. The underlying AI will rely on Google Gemini technology, likely running on Google servers to handle billions of daily queries.

For users, the changes promise a smarter, more interactive, and genuinely useful Siri for work, productivity, and everyday life. Apple is expected to reveal the new features at WWDC 2026, June 8–12, with a wider rollout later in the year.
