IPhone 18 Pro Drops Black Again, Narrows to Three Colors

Apple is narrowing the iPhone 18 Pro palette to three colors, according to leaker Instant Digital, but the more telling detail is what’s being left out again.

The reported options are Dark Cherry, Light Blue, and Silver-Gray. That list continues a pattern that started with the iPhone 17 Pro, which launched in Cosmic Orange, Deep Blue, and Silver while skipping any black or dark gray option entirely. Based on this leak, black is being dropped from the Pro lineup for a second consecutive year.

Dark Cherry is shaping up as the headline color for this cycle, filling the same role Cosmic Orange played last year as the shade most likely to appear in marketing and generate pre-launch conversation. Leaked chassis photos have previously shown a deep red frame consistent with that name. Light Blue appears to be a lighter take on last year’s Deep Blue, and Silver-Gray reads as a variation on Apple’s standard silver finish.

A Narrower Palette Than Some Expected

Dummy models surfaced earlier showing four colors including Black, which makes the three-color report either a correction or a sign that Apple trimmed the lineup late in development. Three colors is fewer than some previous Pro generations, and the leak aligns with separate talk about Apple consolidating its Pro color options rather than expanding them.

One thing worth keeping in mind: Apple has not confirmed any of this, and the design approach for the iPhone 18 Pro has been the subject of multiple conflicting reports in the months leading up to launch. Color choices can shift close to production, so the final retail lineup may look different from what leakers have described.
