Beats Solo Buds Orange is a Repainted Diwali Giveaway Exclusive — iPhone

What You Need to Know

  • Orange Beats Solo Buds are a recolored version of India’s October 2024 Diwali promotional exclusive.
  • Beats releases retailer-exclusive Solo Buds colors to extend shelf presence without hardware changes since June 2024.
  • Solo Buds offer 18 hours battery life but use wired-only charging case without internal battery.
  • Best Buy currently discounts all Solo Buds colors to $69.99, positioning them as budget true wireless option.

The orange Beats Solo Buds now sitting on Best Buy shelves are not a genuinely new color. They are a retailer-exclusive repaint of a shade Beats already used for a Diwali promotional giveaway in India back in October 2024, where the earbuds were handed out free with an iPhone 15 or 15 Plus purchase. The only visible difference between that version and this one is the logo color: the India pair used purple, the new retail version uses red.

Beats has been running this retailer-exclusive playbook since the Solo Buds launched in June 2024. Arctic Purple went to Apple and Target. Ivory landed at Walmart. Orange now goes to Best Buy in the US and 7-Eleven in Japan, with the Japan availability starting July 4.

The original launch lineup covered the basics:

  • Matte Black
  • Storm Gray
  • Transparent Red

Each new exclusive color extends the product’s shelf presence without requiring any hardware revision.

What you actually get for the money

The hardware is unchanged. Solo Buds offer up to 18 hours of battery life from the buds themselves, and the case handles wired charging but carries no internal battery of its own. That case-without-a-battery design was a deliberate trade-off at launch, keeping the price at $79.99 while competitors bundle wireless charging cases as standard.

Best Buy is currently selling all Solo Buds colors, including the new orange, at $69.99 after a $10 discount. That price positions them as one of the cheaper options in the true wireless space, though the passive charging case remains the most common complaint from buyers who expected more for the money.
